In response to rising safety standards in automotive markets, we engineered a tft lcd reversing camera solution featuring a 14″ automotive-grade display. This display is capable of receiving and presenting four separate camera feeds simultaneously—ideal for rear and side monitoring in commercial vehicles, buses, or heavy machinery.
Technical Challenge
Display Format: Ultra-wide 1920×720 resolution (24:9 aspect ratio) to fit split-screen layouts.
Environmental Specs: Mechanically robust and thin (1.08 mm panel, PCBA thickness ≤ 3.2 mm) for dashboard integration.
Visual Performance: High NTSC ≥ 70% color gamut and 8-bit (16.7 million colors) fidelity for clear, true-to-life visuals.
System Compatibility: Normally-black TFT mode preferred for power efficiency and high contrast in both day and low-light driving conditions.

Engineering Approach
Panel Selection & Validation The horizontally elongated TFT panel provides an ideal canvas for quad-camera split display, reducing the need for optical distortion or complex remapping.
Mechanical Integration Adhering to a slim profile (1.08 mm panel thickness, ≤ 3.2 mm total with PCBA), the module was tailored for flush mounting behind dashboard styling bezels.
Electrical & Video Interface We engineered a robust video pipeline accepting RTSP/NTSC composite streams from four camera inputs, then processed via our display controller onto the TFT panel.
Optical Quality Tuning Gamma calibration and NTSC color tuning were applied during production to ensure consistency, color fidelity, and visibility across high-transmission automotive-grade optical films.
System Architecture & Integration
To ensure seamless camera visualization, the system was designed with the following layered architecture:
Input Layer Four analog or digital camera feeds, compatible with NTSC or CVBS signals, routed to an onboard AHD decoder or external ADAS processor.
Processing Layer Video streams synchronized and formatted by a custom video stitching or switching IC, depending on the selected view mode (quad-split, full-screen, or dual split).
Display Output Layer Processed image rendered directly to the 14″ tft lcd reversing camera module via RGB or LVDS interface, depending on client ECU architecture.
Control Interface Touch buttons or steering wheel-mounted triggers used to toggle views, initiate zoom, or enable parking guidelines overlay.
The integration workflow considered thermal dissipation, shielding for EMI/EMC robustness, and vibration-resistant FPC mounting.
User Experience Enhancements
The ultra-wide resolution and 70%+ NTSC color performance offer a clear advantage in real-world use:
Improved Situational Awareness The 1920×720 resolution supports real-time viewing of 4 cameras without downscaling, offering drivers precise distance judgment and object recognition.
Low-Reflection Display Performance The normally black TFT mode reduces ambient glare, offering strong visibility during night driving or tunnel entry conditions.
Instant Wake & Response Time Optimized driver ICs ensure sub-100ms screen wake and video display after reverse gear activation.
Flexible Mounting Options Due to its slim form factor and custom PCBA layout, the module supports horizontal or angled integration within dashboard, center console, or A-pillar structures.
Environmental Reliability
The display solution passed multiple automotive-grade validations, including:
Wide Temperature Operation: -30 °C to +85 °C
ESD Protection: 8kV air / 4kV contact discharge
Vibration Testing: Compliant with ISO 16750-3 standards
UV and Humidity Resistance: Enhanced polarizer durability
For OEM customers requiring higher IP protection or bonding, we also provide optional optical bonding, anti-glare surface coating, and custom cover lens printing for branding and anti-reflection performance.
Business Outcomes
This tft lcd reversing camera module is now integrated into an ongoing fleet vehicle platform in Southeast Asia. Highlights include:
Reduced time-to-market through modular PCBA + panel integration
Cost-effective transition from 2-camera to 4-camera design
Enhanced end-user confidence and regulatory compliance in rear-view visibility
The success of this project has enabled us to replicate similar platforms for electric delivery vans, low-speed urban logistics vehicles, and aftermarket automotive accessory kits.
